About Us ...
Spontaneous Productions is evolving into a new permanent
company. Full details will be published here shortly.
Our Mission Statement (agreed 17/11/09)
Spontaneous Productions is a collaborative producing
theatre company based in Sydenham, South London.
We bring original and adapted work to the community,
using innovative and unusual spaces, challenging expectations and expanding
boundaries within live performance.
We present original and experimental pieces as well as
inventive revivals of extant plays, developing a creative dialogue with the
community and encouraging new and diverse audiences to share and participate in
theatre experiences.
A Short History
Brothers Jonathan and Julian Kaufman have been co-writing
and producing their own plays since 1995 where they were co-Artistic Directors
at the Colour House Theatre, Colliers Wood.
In 2007 Jonathan formed Spontaneous Productions, a repertory
company of professional actors recruited for a one-off evening of short plays
performed at Kirkdale Bookshop, Sydenham. Since then, Jonathan and Julian have
been sending their short plays to competitions around the country. They have
won both won first prize at Zeitgeists Theatre Grand Slam competition at
The Bedford Globe, Balham, and have had plays performed in Leeds and at The
Brighton Festival. Jonathans play The Interpreter was voted Best New Play
of the Year at The Bedford Globe in September 2008 and its sequel Welcome to
Luketia: Land of Opportunity premiered at The Kings Head, Islington in
March this year. |
